Thank you to everyone who voted for this topic. And I must say this quote from you is really one of my favorites ever. "The closest English translation, bibliomania, has been pathologized as a subset of hoarding, which in turn falls under obsessive-compulsive behaviour, which is then grouped under the larger category of totally missing the point."
At this point if you count physical books that aren't related to my research for my historical mystery series....less than 30 because when I got my Kindle, I got rid of pretty much of all the fiction and non-fiction I had in print (too dusty, falling apart, or too hard to hold in my arthritic hands!" I also needed to make room for my husband's 1000s of books (which he will never get rid of) since a flood in laundry room meant we needed to get rid of a wall of shelves! However, you count my Kindle library, about 1400, and I would say most of them I've either read, or started and decided not to read. Currently about 16 waiting to be read. Then of course there are the audiobooks, 135 in my library, about 10 I am waiting to read. So, counting all formats for fiction, 1565 in my accessible library, but I don't imagine that there are more than 25 that are TBR. Life's too short at this point to make this pile to large (smile).

Thank you kindly for that note! Since you’re the inspiration for this issue, allow me to ask: How many books in your library?

Good grief, I still haven't finished the Old Testament.
Assuming you started with Gilgamesh, so that’s impressive headway!
"I have a buying-new-books problem, but at least it’s not drugs.”
I don't know who said it but worth keeping in mind.
You can save money by buying old books but that doesn’t work as well for drugs
Dear Benjamin,
Great piece! Love these quotes:
“The buying of more books than one can read is nothing less than the soul reaching toward infinity.”
— A. Edward Newton
“A man loses contact with reality if he is not surrounded by his books.”
— Francois Mitterrand
“The thing about books is, there are quite a number you don’t have to read.”
— Donald Barthelme
“Some books are undeservedly forgotten; none are undeservedly remembered.”
— W.H. Auden
Thank you for sharing as always!
Love

Thank you for helping me feel a little less guilty.
