Dear Benjamin,

Thank you as always for all of this.

One of my favorite quotes from this week:

“Ask your neighbour only about things you know better. His advice might prove valuable.”

— Karl Kraus

Thank you for sharing!

Love

Even though he was Austrian, I suspect Karl Kraus was the inspiration for the great Dana Carvey - Steve Carell skit “Germans Say The Nicest Things”

As one of those neighbors down south of the border, I really did appreciate this particular piece. Thanks!

"It’s a funny thing when your neighbour discovers neighbourliness. The neighbour, I write with a conspicuous U from Canada, is the United States, and the discovery is bubbling up from all corners".

Two thoughts when I read your insight, above :

1. What was the meaning of the song American Woman, by the Guess Who? ( " American woman, stay away from me..."..).

2. That great joke - " Living in Canada must be like living in an apartment, above a meth lab".

Great article. Thank you.

I see that readers have selected "The Zeigarnik Effect" for next week's Guide to. I was relieved to discover that The Zeigarnik effect should not be confused with the Ovsiankina effect,

I look forward finishing my research on the difference!
