"Incredible as it may seem at first thought, practically every sentence that you speak and write during your lifetime has never been spoken or written before in human history.... If you fill your speech and writing with prefabricated cliches, ramshackle abstractions, and leaden expressions, you are denying the abounding creativity that is inherent in the very nature of human language."
I found the quotes in this especially fun. Although I have a feeling, I will be super sensitive today as I sit down to write my own fiction because I am quite sure I fall into the cliche trap fairly quickly and often.
Marvin Gaye gets a pass! A voice as smooth as a jazz lounge pickup line, hotter than a slow jam in July, like butter melting on a love song, the vocal equivalent of “treat yourself”, and so silky it made silk feel underdressed…

Maybe the secret is to put a portrait of Mart above your monitor, with eyes that watch your every keystroke…
Spot on about Martin Amis, clever as a fox and as sharp as a tack. And as witty as get wit quick.
Super quote by Philip Guedalla.
Hackneyed it may be but there's a wonderful song by Marvin Gaye, " I'll be Doggone."
